Shelly trained at one of Vancouver’s oldest and most well respected Yoga studios, Semperviva. There she was introduced to a large variety of Yoga styles as well as the international Yoga communities most prominent teaches including Gurumuhk, Sarah Powers, Max Strom, Seane Corn, Sadie Nardini and Rolf Gates.
Years before Shelly began the physical practice of Yoga she was engaged in the practice of Meditation and Reiki, so when she was introduced to the teachings of Micheal Stone and Sarah Powers it really struck a chord in her. Both of these teachers blend Yoga with Buddhist mindfulness philosophy. You will find this mindfulness approach layered into her classes. Shelly feels fortunate to have the opportunity to share her passion for Yoga with the students that she encounters. Shelly is focused on the full experience of Yoga and the transformative nature of this simple practice when all of the intricate layers are woven into the equation: physical, mental, emotional & energetic.
There are times in our lives when we are compelled to do things that we can’t possibly explain. Logic evades us, yet inexplicably we know that we are on the right path.
I have always wanted my life to be of service. This desire has led me in many different directions. I have been lost and found more than once. There have been many different highs and lows, all of which led me to this moment in time where all the puzzle pieces have come together to form a picture that makes sense; a vision, a purpose has come into focus.
When all I had were fragmented pieces I relied on my faith. There were many times when it was tested, but I persisted. I have always known that one day it would make sense. I believed this whole heartedly. There were of course moments when that belief floundered, but my faith always brought me back.
I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. I am a yogi, a musician, a healer, an actress, a businesswoman and a teacher. These are all pieces of my intricate puzzle. I am all of these things and none of these things. I can not be defined by any title or label. I simply am. I AM.
My heart is my biggest gift and it is transmitted through my music, my teaching and my life.
I bring people together and create a container where they have the time and space to connect; with themselves, others and the world at large.
It is my life’s work and it fills me with immeasurable love and joy!
Whether you attend a yoga class, a sound healing or a retreat you will have the opportunity to experience this deep sense of connection.
We live in a society where we are starving for this meaning and connection. I encourage you to take the opportunity to nourish your body, mind and spirit.
